Lynnita Knoch
Chair/President Elect
Lynnita learned to sew at her
grandmothers’ knees while learning to read. One taught her to sew by machine on
her treadle machine, as well as to weave and crochet. The other taught her to
sew by hand and tat. She made doll cloths and her own clothing for years,
culminating in designing her own wedding dress.
She also made draperies and reupholstered furniture.
She made her first “quilts” when she adopted her boys 20 years ago.
Lynnita started painting as a creative outlet when she had to
retire for medical reasons. After seeing art quilts at a show, she wanted to
combine her painting hobby with her love of fabric. Her quilting obsession began
about 8 years ago with a church group making ‘ugly’ quilts for the homeless. She
began taking quilt classes to learn various techniques unique to quilting. She
loves antique quilts and art quilts. She enjoys hand-work. She has had honorable
mention, 1st,
2nd and
3rd place ribbons in the AQG show
the last few years.
Born and raised in Ohio,
Lynnita has lived in upstate New York, New Jersey, and Florida,
but now resides in Chandler
with her husband, TR, and their menagerie of dogs, fish, and reptiles. She has 3
grown children. She is a retired engineer and teaches quilting classes at Zoe’s
Trunk.
