Block of the Month We will be making nine different blocks this year. Each one will be announced at one meeting and will be due the following meeting. These blocks will all be 12 1/2 inches (to finish at 12"). Here is how it will work. The August block is the Saw Tooth Star. The pattern and instructions are available at the link below. If you wish to participate, make the block in scrappy fabric (this is a good way to help use up some of your fabrics) and bring it to the meeting in September. Please put an address label or a sticky note with your name on it (non-permanent) on the back of the block so the recipient knows who made each block. As you enter the meeting in September you will be able to leave your block at the sign in table where we will put it in a paper bag. Before the meeting is through you will get a random paper bag with a block in it for your quilt. If you choose to make more than one block, you will get one block for each one you bring in. At the September meeting the next block will be announced which will be due at the October meeting. When you get home after the meeting you will take your Saw Tooth Star block out of the bag and put it in a safe place and save your bag to put your next block in. Make your next block. Put your label on the back. And put it back into the paper bag. When you come into the October meeting you will drop off your bag (the block inside) at the sign in table and they will be mixed up and handed out before the end of the meeting. We will continue this each month until we have made all nine blocks. Keep in mind, you may get your own block back or you may not, but if we keep them scrappy they will go together in the end.
